Returns and cancellation

You have 14 days to change your mind, on every piece, for any reason or none.

Your right to cancel

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you may cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The cancellation period ends 14 days after the day on which the goods come into your physical possession.

There is no exemption for antiques, second-hand goods or high-value items. This right applies to everything on this site.

How to cancel

Tell me in a clear statement — email is fine — before the 14 days are up. You then have a further 14 days to return the goods. You do not need a form and you do not need a reason, though if the piece was not what you expected I would like to know why, so that the next listing is better.

Packing a return

Send it back the way it came: the same two boxes if you still have them, tissue against the glaze, the piece suspended in the inner carton and the stand or lid packed separately. The care guide sets out the method. Use a tracked, insured service, and keep the receipt until the refund is with you.

Return carriage

Please contact us before returning an object so that we can agree suitable packing and carriage. If a change-of-mind return is to be at your expense, this will be disclosed before purchase. If that was not disclosed, we will bear the return carriage cost. Your rights where goods are faulty or not as described are unaffected.

Refunds

For a cancellation, we will refund you within 14 days of receiving the goods back or evidence that you have sent them back, whichever is earlier, using the original payment method. We also refund the cost of standard outward delivery; any extra charge for an upgraded service is not refundable. Where the value of the goods has been reduced by handling beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning, I may make a proportionate deduction. Turning a bowl over, holding it to the light and looking at it under a lens is necessary handling; so is taking it out of its box. Washing it, displaying it for a fortnight or having it restored is not.

If it arrives damaged

That is not a return and the 14 days do not come into it. Photograph the box and the piece as they are, contact me as soon as possible, and the insurance claim is mine to deal with. You will have a full refund, or the choice of a replacement where one exists.

Separately: the authenticity guarantee

The 14-day right above is your statutory cancellation right. It sits alongside, and does not replace, the lifetime authenticity guarantee — which has no time limit at all. If a piece turns out not to be what the listing said, you are covered whether that is discovered in a fortnight or in twenty years.
